Kathy is wearing a lilac dress that matches the backdrop in the scene, the purple in the dress matched with the way it flows represents the calm and dreamy mood of the scene and makes the audience feel the atmosphere that the scene makes. Kathy's outfit may also represent the way she feels towards Don, implying that she's in a dreamlike state. Her makeup is done to make her look innocent and pure, to represent her potential inexperience with romance, or to show her uncertainty towards the situation.
