Film Research - E.T the Extra-terrestrial Institutional Context Production company: The production company of E.T. was Universal Pictures. Universal Pictures was also responsible for producing films like Psycho, Jurassic Park, The Mummy and many other popular films. Distributor: The distributors of the film consisted of many well known distributors such as Universal Pictures, Nova Film and United International Pictures. Director:  The director of the film was Steven Spielberg. Spielberg also directed, produced or wrote popular movies such as Gremlins, Jaws and Poltergeist. In his work, he often uses powerful flashlights in dark scenes, Important images, or characters, that are often seen through the rear-view mirror of a car and he frequently uses music by John Williams. Singin' in the Rain - 3 scene analysis Scene 1 - You were meant for me The costumes in this scene fit really well with the background. Kathy is wearing a lilac dress that matches the backdrop in the scene, the purple in the dress matched with the way it flows represents the calm and dreamy mood of the scene and makes the audience feel the atmosphere that the scene makes. Kathy's outfit may also represent the way she feels towards Don, implying that she's in a dreamlike state. Her makeup is done to make her look innocent and pure, to represent her potential inexperience with romance, or to show her uncertainty towards the situation. Don's costume also matches the backdrop which creates the illusion that himself and Kathy belong together in the same way as clouds and the sky. Don's outfit is brighter and more bold, however, which shows that he is the dominant role. Don is wearing no makeup which could represent that he has nothing to hide. The ...
